Misty mornings remembered
The season has definitely shifted.
My Somerset home overlooks a deep valley and, at this time of year, I often wake to see it nestled in a blanket of morning mist.
The mist’s return has reminded me of this feature, written and photographed by Laura Pashby (@circleofpines) and designed by me, from issue nine of Ernest journal.
What I love about features like this one is that it takes something familiar, and reminds us of its wonder. Magic that our sensible, busy, adult minds have forgotten to see. Walking through these earthly clouds is an intense experience, when we remember to immerse ourselves, and they’re unsurprisingly the subject of rich folklore around our northern European homelands.
I’m excited to get my hands on a copy of Laura’s new book, Chasing Fog published by Simon Schuster this season. Perfect reading for an autumnal Sunday morning :)
